Pronunciation & how to use these phrases

Traditional hanzi; Jyutping records sounds and tones. Device speech, when available, is only a model for that installed voice; historical and unsupported varieties have no automatic voice here.

Published: a first rule with a worked example and answer, introductory vocabulary, and basic expressions. Next: sound contrasts → inflection and sentence patterns → connected reading/listening → independent use. 唔該 and 多謝 overlap in some situations, but the service/gift distinction is a useful start. Jyutping 1–6 labels tones; checked syllables are not three extra contrasting tone contours.
