Move-Item

Move or rename an item.

Syntax

UPPERCASE words are placeholders to replace. Brackets in the syntax line describe optional arguments; do not type those brackets literally.

Move-Item -LiteralPath SOURCE -Destination TARGET

Example

Move-Item -LiteralPath ./note-copy.txt -Destination ./renamed-note.txt -WhatIf

Expected result

A preview of a move or rename.

Notes and traps

Changing paths can break applications that expect the original location.
