mv

Move or rename a file.

Syntax

UPPERCASE words are placeholders to replace. Brackets in the syntax line describe optional arguments; do not type those brackets literally.

mv [OPTIONS] SOURCE DESTINATION

mv -i -- note-copy.txt renamed-note.txt

Expected result

The file appears at its new path.

Notes and traps

-i requests confirmation before overwrite; check the exact target path.
